Welcome to Alpha Success...
where SEL, IL, SJ and ICT meet.
Middle school is met with new and complex challenges for students. As the brain and body grow, confusion and transitioning difficulties can occur in some form. Increasing the healthy progression of adolescents through instruction in Self-Awareness, Social Awareness, Relationship Skills, Self-Management, and Responsible Decision-Making (Beland, Douglass, & Matheny, 2017) as the pillars for success, create conditions for learning.
Information Communication & Technology
Today's technological culture requires all of us to be literate in ICT in order to be productive and employable in the future. Students have a higher accessibility to new and evolving technologies that ever before, but require support in basic competencies outside using tech for entertainment or personal usage. Cybersecurity training and webdesign tools will motivate and build student understanding.
Students are graduating from high schools with the notion that they have high levels information literacy proficiency with data that does not agree (Gross & Latham, 2012). Using the American Association of School Librarian's new standards for information as a framework, we will Inquire, Include, Collaborate, Curate, Explore and Engage (AASL, 2018) student skills in this area to increase information literacy ability and understanding to prepare for high school and beyond.
One child, one teacher, one pen and one book
